Cindy Sherman is a photographer and filmmaker from the United States. In her conceptual works of art she often uses herself as model to depict the role of woman or artist in modern society. "The Complete Untitled Film Still" is one of her most famous photograph series whereas in her following work, "History Portraits", she reconstructs famous paintings through her lens and uses herself as a model once more. Sherman is also a skillfull filmmaker and in 1997 she directed the comedy - horror fim "Office Killer". She lives and works in New York.

Barbara Kruger is an American conceptual artist. Her famous collage work consists of black and white photographs with overlaid captions. This kind of appropriation art - using borrowed elements in the creation of something new - is accompanied with strong text messages and has often appeared in public places, billboards, bus stations. Ironically enough, Kruger's work uses the commercial imagery of magazine advertising to depict her criticism on sexism, consumerism or classicism. Some of her most renowned slogans are: "Money can buy you love", "I shop therefore I am",“Your body is a battleground".
