Qui êtes-vous, Billy Liar?

Billy Liar is a 1963 film based on Keith Waterhouse's novel. It was directed by John Schlesinger and stars Tom Courtenay as Billy and Julie Christie as Liz. The film belongs to the Free Cinema movement and is the story of a young imaginative British boy who seeks to travel to London and become a world famous script writer. The film is a wonderful depiction of life in post war England and an ode to escapism, imagination and life itself. In 2004 the American band Decemberists named their first release album after Waterhouse's popular hero, as well.

She has been the muse of both husbands of hers and inspired songs like "Something", "For You Blue", "Layla", "Wonderful Tonight," and "Bell Bottom Blues"!

William Klein is an american photographer and filmmaker. Besides his iconic fashion photo editorials for Vogue and his famous photo series dedicated to modern metropolises, he has directed a series of films, including the art house movie “Qui êtes vous, Polly Maggoo?” and the anti-imperialistic satire “Mr. Freedom”. In 1956 he won the Prix Nadar, the annual French photography award. He has been living in France for the last decades.
